Watercolor Artist  Susan Keith

My interest in art began very early as a child, drawing and painting. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Painting and Printmaking from San Diego State University. Later on in life, I became a teacher and taught all levels of high school art. At the time I was primarily a pastel and acrylic painter that dabbled in watercolor. Upon retiring from teaching I have pursued watercolor with a renewed love and interest. My professional art career started in 2013 in which I have been exhibiting publicly. My work has been shown in both local and regional shows where I have won various awards. My watercolors have a sense or impression of realism. I incorporate bright colors in all my paintings to catch the viewer's eye. I am intrigued by light and shadow in so many subjects from foliage and florals to plein air landscapes, architecture and portraits. Most days I am painting in my studio or on the look out for a beautiful subject that has found my attention to capture with my watercolors.
